Week 14 Turtle

Current Tri Count - 51,294


This week I had to redo some of my low poly models, tweak my low poly to better match my high poly, as well as properly UV unwrap and bake textures. I had a lot of trouble this week as UVs and retopo are currently areas im not very strong in, however I feel I at least learned a good amount about both. I did the best I could, but I was unable to begin texturing for this weeks assignment. With the added time of thanksgiving break I think the textures for this big guy will look solid

 Ok so this week was a doozey. Not exactly where I want to be right now but nothing is ever without setbacks. Next week will be better. Hopefully with more sleep too

Week 12 B stage


This week I finished the high poly sculpt for medusa, retopologised the high poly medusa model and hands and started on basic textures to get a context of value in the world. The low poly model for medusa is now currently 11,908 tris, with all snakes attached it should be roughly 35,000. the snakes could use some optimization. 

 A wise man once said it is better to submit something than nothing. This is without a doubt, one of the submissions of all time. I will be working on this all night. Hope itll be ready by morning.

Week 12 High poly sculpt part 2

 This is my turt in engine. This week I added a second layer of detail. My turtle is made of a lot of different parts so it was a challenge to hit all the different parts of the turt. For his feathers my plan is to array them after retopology for both the hat and the shell boards. I used a number of alphas shared with my fellow turtle makers, such as various scales and runes.




For the feather I took inspiration from these headdress ornaments, while maintaining the original shape from my blockout

Week 011 C Stage medusa + Perseus Hand

 Ok so this week was brutal, I'm probably gonna order mcdonalds now. sigh.

Here is Medusa posed in scene. this is one of many iterations of medusa I have sent out to my team to use as I work on the high poly sculpt. This week I worked on the high poly models for the hands as well as Medusa. and backing that data on to some proxy low poly meshes.

Week_011 Start High Res Meshing


 New Turt Updates!




This week was all about anatomy baby, I spend a good amount of time studying anatomy and trying to make my turtle look super muscular. I used a lot of body builder references as well as the anatomy for sculptors book


I spend some time to refine my turtles head and face so I studied various tortoise references. I want my turtle to have a mean looking face so the picture on the left especially helped.
